Job Title: Safety Director
Job Description:
- Part-time, 15-20 hours per week.
- Review and revamp our subcontractor safety guideline sign-off form to be used as a more robust and updated contract exhibit.
- Review and prepare any necessary revisions to subcontracts, bid invites, meeting agendas, employee manuals, etc.
- Facilitate OSHA Consultation paperwork and visits on projects large enough to qualify.
- Work closely with ABC, OECS, OSHA, etc. to keep our company up to date on the ever-changing requirements.
- Review plans and be involved in pre-bid meetings to ensure bid coverage of site-specific safety needs within budget proposals.
- Review and update emergency response plans to be deployed in the event of an onsite incident.
- Select, research, and present up to date and relevant monthly safety topics at monthly company meetings.
- Select, research, and distribute relevant toolbox talks.
- Research, track, and facilitate up to date training and qualifications on: CPR, forklift, OSHA, etc.
- Track and deliver reports and required logs on safety performance for use with OSHA, insurance providers, and employee/jobsite recognitions.
- Track documentation to ensure adequate information in the office and onsite. Safety violations, SDS, AWAIR, subcontractor sign-offs, etc.
- Establish safety related goals and track and report metrics on a quarterly basis.
- Attend safety critical subcontract preconstruction meetings and lead the safety portion.
- Assist superintendents onsite with better/alternative approaches to deal with subcontractors who are repeat offenders.
- Complete monthly safety walk-throughs on each project to identify and address, in real time, potential active or upcoming hazards.
- Investigate and document any claims, incidents, or injuries, if or when, they arise. Prepare and comply with OSHA logs and reporting requirements, within required timelines.
- Work with management to establish an annual safety program budget.
- Purchase and maintain required safety equipment (hard hats, vests, harnesses, tie off equipment, leads, cattle chutes and guardrails, cones, and flagging, etc.).
- Maintain a positive and encouraging attitude to promote and acquire buy-in for a company-wide safety conscious culture and mindset.
Skills and Qualifications:
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Construction site safety experience.
- Professional and friendly.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills- verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills, plus experience with Excel, Outlook, Power Point.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, strong work ethic.
