BJ Baas Builders, Inc. is owned and operated by Brian and Amanda Baas. Brian's background in construction started at an early age working as a carpenter through High School and College. After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, he spent some years working for a large general contractor in the Twin Cities. During that time he worked as an estimator, jobsite foreman, jobsite superintendent, and project manager. Responsibilities included a wide range of large project and facilities that prepared him well for his business.

 

Our approach to construction goes beyond hammer and nails. We look at each project through scientific glasses. From the roofing to the shingles, it is important to consider things such as air and water movements, thermal values, durability of materials, solar affects, and air quality. Without consideration to such critical issues, other contractors' clients often face mold, extensive heat loss, inefficiency and high energy bills, premature deterioration of the structure and unhealthy air. Consideration of all outside forces on a structure gives us the information and tools we need to produce the best quality product that will outlast our time on earth. The Building Science approach is conveyed to our employees and sub-contractors through regular training sessions held at our office.

 

We are only as good as our weakest employee. It has always been important to employ the best possible craftsmen, but our requirements go beyond that. Since our employees and sub-contractors are often working in businesses and office environments, we expect that they will respect each jobsite with courteous behavior, appropriate language, and friendly interaction. We have high expectations about how our representatives care and protect each client's property, personal belongings and space. This includes proper dust protection prior to starting work, and of course, proper clean-up after the job is done. We employ quality people that are quality craftsmen. They all receive regular training in "Building Science" so we can maintain the highest quality product at a fair price. We are proud of the efforts of our employees and sub-contractors to achieve excellence in everything they do in the office and in the field.

 

Our diverse experience in construction has allowed BJ Baas Builders, Inc. to offer construction services in both the residential and commercial markets. We also offer services in design allowing us to be involved in a project at its earliest stages, which we refer to as the Design-Build concept. This gives us an advantage by thoroughly knowing a project inside and out before any construction has started. It also allows us to give input on design as it relates to constructability, function, and budget. Our proven partnership with professional designers, architects, and engineers allows us to produce a well-built, great-looking structure. We can readily handle any unforeseen challenges that may arise during construction. Better yet, we are able to anticipate many potential problems and mistakes by our involvement at the design stage, before construction begins. This makes for a smooth-running project.

The question is not if you will have challenges and problems during construction,
